چکیده

We consider visibility representations of graphs in which the vertices are represented by a collection O of non-overlapping convex regions on the plane. Two points x and y are visible if the straight-line segment xy is not obstructed by any object. Two objects A; B 2 O are called visible if there exist points x 2 A; y 2 B such that x is visible from y. We consider visibility only for a nite set of directions. In such a representation, the given graph is decomposed into a union of unidirec-tional visibility graphs, for the chosen set of directions. This raises the problem of studying the number of directions needed to represent a given graph. We study this number of directions as a graph parameter and obtain sharp upper and lower bounds for the representability of arbitrary graphs.

Italian Political Communication and Gender Bias: Press Representations of Men/Women Presidents of the Houses of Parliament (1979, 1994, and 2013)

The study considers mass media communication as intertwined with social norms, as assumed by the perspective of social representations. It explores the Italian press communication by focusing on three pairs of men and women politicians with different political orientations and all serving as presidents of the Houses of Parliament in three legislatures. The article concentrates on five newspaper...

Using both Binary and Residue Representations for Achieving Fast Converters in RNS

In this paper, a new method is introduced for improving the efficiency of the Residue Number System, which uses both binary and residue representations in order to represent a number. A residue number system uses the remainder of the division in several different modules. Conversion of a number to smaller ones and carrying out parallel calculations on these numbers greatly increase the speed of...

Rectangle and Box Visibility Graphs in 3D

We discuss rectangle and box visibility representations of graphs in 3-dimensional space. In these representations, vertices are represented by axis-aligned disjoint rectangles or boxes. Two vertices are adjacent if and only if their corresponding boxes see each other along a small axis-parallel cylinder. We concentrate on lower and upper bounds for the size of the largest complete graph that c...

Deformation of Outer Representations of Galois Group II

This paper is devoted to deformation theory of "anabelian" representations of the absolute Galois group landing in outer automorphism group of the algebraic fundamental group of a hyperbolic smooth curve defined over a number-field. In the first part of this paper, we obtained several universal deformations for Lie-algebra versions of the above representation using the Schlessinger criteria for...
